Coronation Street Internet Marketing Quote

Those of you who know me a bit better than others will know that I am a HUGE Coronation Street fan. And I mean…HUGE!!

So it is probably no surprise that at some point I would find something in a Coronation Street episode that I could relate to making money from the internet. And guess what? That episode of inspiration was on last night!! So here goes!…

Leanne Barlow went to visit Frank Foster in prison who is currently banged up for raping Carla Connor (his ex-fiancé) after she called off their wedding. Leanne is trying to find out why Frank is accusing her husband Peter of having an affair with Carla.

(I hope you are following this!)

Leanne is demanding PROOF of this alleged affair.

And Frank…despite being a low-life scumbag rapist…provides some words of inspiration. He says:

“You know those signs at the back
of lorries that say, ‘If you can’t see
my mirrors, then I can’t see you’,
well it’s like that. Just because
we haven’t seen them in the act,
it doesn’t mean they are not having
an affair”

What he means is, just because the lorry driver can’t see the car in his wing mirrors, it doesn’t mean that the car isn’t there. This is the same as how online marketing works. We set up our business, generate leads and communicate via emails, blog posts, videos, auto-responders and webinars.

But most of the time when our leads are WATCHING us or READING our emails or BUYING our products, we are not actually there. We are getting on with other things that we enjoy doing…like watching Coronation Street, LOL!

Our business is very much still there, being active and successful, even if we are not. We are still driving behind that lorry even if we are not in the wing-mirrors!

Think about the kind of FREEDOM that this kind of business brings. If you had a shop, you would stop selling as soon as you closed your doors at 5.30pm.

With an internet business, the money keeps coming in, regardless of when you stop working.

So here is the question for you. If you could make a decent living without having to put in full time hours, what would you spend your spare hours doing? Would you spend them at the gym, shopping, lunching with your friends, taking your kids to the park, getting involved in sporting activities that you love? These are just a few ideas, but the world is your oyster!

Power of the Internet

Have you ever stopped to consider just how powerful the internet really is? It allows you to communicate with people all across the world without you even having to be there! Look at you, for example. You are reading this post and will probably go on to watch the video below but I’m not here talking to you right now. I finished writing this hours ago….days ago….MONTHS ago! (depending when you are reading this)

It’s funny…sometimes I will be watching one of my mentor’s videos and then he will call or email me, and I’ll say to him, “I’m just watching you on video now!”  It’s strange but it is also very exciting!

Use the internet to buy you time. There used to be a time when I was in a health and nutrition business and I advertised in the paper for people who wanted to buy my weight loss products. I would get inundated with enquiries (or leads) and I would spend HOURS calling them. This meant the Scott (my boyfriend) would do all the housework while I was in the spare room calling all these people! It put tremendous strain on our relationship, plus I didnt enjoy it. It was so tiring! Now I let the internet do the talking for me.
